Just another fun day in paradise.. or not..
Myself and my girlfriend were out watching a movie yesterday afternoon. Truck of course was running beautifully. (isn't it always calmest before the storm?) :-/
We picked up a few things for dinner and started heading home. About 15 miles from the house. The Temp gauge skyrocketed from its normal spot directly in the middle of the gauge up to the red line. It instantly got shut off of course and coasted to the side of the road. Popped the hood.. look down on the intake just under the LH Fuel Rail and that gully is full of coolant. Water pouring down the side of the block. After the tow home and $85 later.. I was informed we are being evicted in June the day after my girlfriend graduates from college. Just another kick in the #@%# 2 weeks ago i put a new timing belt / both idlers / water pump / thermostat / up/lower rad hoses / radiator cap / dist cap / rotor / all drive belts .. I checked all of the other hoses and they were in good condition and i was out of money so i couldn't replace anymore I checked for leaks daily for a week and was completely dry everywhere.
Of course as everybody is I am pretty much completely broke and in debt up to my eyeballs. The looming doom of the 3.slow Head gasket is always in the back of my mind. I will get some pic's and do some work hoping to find a broken coolant line or something simple in the lower intake but the way my luck has been going lately i doubt it. Wish me luck in my fight.

LOL i made somebody's sig line i feel loved..
On a different note no i don't have any family in this area.. or this half of the country for that matter. I grew up in Oregon and all of my family is there. I came out here to help my girlfriend finish college. Hopefully i can get the truck fixed cheaply and head back to Oregon in June. She loves her runner, its beat up rusty, and everything else a vehicle goes through here in the rust belt. She doesn't want to have to get rid of it.

Just look for any loose coolant lines to begin with. I had left 3 hose clamps loose after my engine rebuild and had a slow leak from a couple of them until I realized what I'd done. Hope everything works out for you.

dude, don't worry i am in a similar boat.....getting evicted at the end of the month, no summer job yet, truck is falling to and i don't feel good selling it to some un-suspecting victim. I've put about 2 g's into it now and i have $437.71 left to my name. Not enough money to fix whatever my problem is....not sure what to do, i hope things work out for you!!

Well i finally got the 3.slow back on the road. It turned out after i cleaned it up and took the timing cover back off that the Seal on the Water Pump had failed... *grumble* it blew coolant clear up on top of the intake. so after i got all that buttoned up runs like a top again I didn't have a chance to run a compression test on it but it has no other signs of HG problems so it looks like we dodged the bullet for now. The other problems are of course still up in the air so we'll see about that later on.
