infamous sunroof cover
Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone would have a picture of what the sunroof cover lock hole looks like. Apparantley the sunroof cover was an option and my truck i guess did not come with it. I purchased the sunroof cover not knowing this. To my dissappointment i noticed that i could not lock the sunroof cover in. I talked to the place where i bought the sunroof cover and he tried to describe what it looks like but not sure. I talked to the dealer and as usual they don't have a clue. so I'm hoping that someone out there has the sunroof cover and could maybe describe or has a picture of what this looks like. It is the piece that the pin on the cover slides into it. I hope this makes sense.

Actually after a little research i discovered that this was an option and most trucks didn't come with it. I had an 85 that came with it and so i assumed that they all came with it. If you look on your sunroof towards the front of the truck you should see two little tabs that stick out. that is what the cover hangs on to.

the cover is not air/water tight. as far as i know the cover is not that important. i only use it in the winter, because water condenses on it and it drips on you head.

Here is the one from my '85:

For sunroof leaks, be sure and check the two drain holes in the corners. They connect to drain tubes that run down the a-pillars. If clogged, water builds up and can leak around the seal.

Most Toyota passenger cars have sliding motorized units with cover inside head liner area. Pop-up units a completely different. If its factory installed no aftermarket cover will fit, unless maybe you modify it. If it was added on from selling dealer then you probably can find a replacement cover.
