So, does it really ride great?

I have been hoping to save up the green so I could buy the swap kit and get the ball in motion for my 63" swap

I have stock saggy springs with short style poocomp aal's. Needless to say the rear end bearly compresses unless there is a load in it, and then my leafs start to look like a M....

Im hoping to swap in the chevies and stick with my 2" overstock height.

I think either all-pro or sky offers a complete kit with new hangers, hardware and available u-bolt flip kit so you really only need a set of springs and bushings..

Then I could get the hanger zapped on, take it back home and swap the whole shibang out!

I picked up a set of 63"s off a kid in Pitt Meadows for $80 a month or so ago. I'm going to take 'em apart and clean them up, repaint them, rebuild them etc. and then just get the hangers made out of 3" square tubing.

What's in the swap kit you're talking about? Seems like it isn't that difficult to do on your own from what I've read.

the kit i ordered from ruff stuff comes with shackles, hangers, bushings, bolts, a lot of stuff. the only problem i had was the shackle holes we're drilled out too short but not a big deal. ordering the kit saves a lot of time. Chevy's are probably my 2nd favorite thing i've done so far(behind aussie). the ride is incredible compared to 48's. on and off road. i kinda like body roll anyway haha

thats a good deal! I missed my chance on a nice set of rebuilt ( painted, new pads) 63"s for $100 a few months ago

The swap kit comes with:

Hangers, shackles and all the hardware you need.

Then you can add on the optional u-bolt flip kit, with new u-bolts, shocks mounts and such.

Makes things easier for us who don't have fab tools to play with

100 for 63's? Rip off! Go to the junk yard, pick em up dirt cheap.

Christ, I just made new packs for my rear out of all free stuff =/ Even a leaf from a 63 chevy (5 leaf?) pack was included, 03 tacoma rear second leaf and even one from an all pro 4" front SAS pack.

just gotta make friends with the same interest! =)

You really should put weight on the springs to set your shackle angle. Which requires welding at home =/

otherwise it could end up... not how it should. Theres not set "measurement" or placement of the hangars for any model truck. 30 deg shackle angle is about perfect. Basically, on full drop you want a vertical shackle, and 30 deg at static. and at full compression you don't want the shackle bottomig out on the frame.

Takes testing to get it right.

Heh, I got impatient with my SAS (way to long a day) .. and just put the front hangar after a failed 'weight' test.... where the literature said to put it. I had to cut it off and reposition it later.

Better off getting it right the first time. =)

I dont have a shop anymore so I have to have a local shop do it up where the truck is or down here near Austin after shipping it. I am sure there is a way to calculate the proper location. A formula or something - I have never known a suspension specialist to do ANYTHING without math to back up his eye-balling-it method. the #1 rule of automotive work - ALWAYS cover your own A$$

So what does this have to do with IFS Flex Pics?

There's a gazillion threads on 63" Chevy swaps, see them for shackle location info.

Well, $100 is a fair price to pay around here. Thats the usual cost of springs. I would pay almost the same from pick-a-part but I would have to go get the mofo's out of the rusty chebby.

Well apperantly on pirate there are measurements for the proper shackle angles. I don't have them on hand..

Either way I dont have access to a welder so I really don't have another option. Worst case, the shackle angle is bad, I take it back to the fab shop I got to weld the stuff in, to remove and reweld the hanger(s).

The rear spring swap seems less of a big deal than welding in front hangers for your front axle...

Thats what I have gotten from all of the guys I have talked to bout them...

Im hoping it will work out, like I said I realy dont have another option
