I managed to match one up at the local parts store. It was a tight fit ar first; I used a little 5w30 on the tip of my finger to lube it a bit, but it fits good, doesn't allow air to leak in around the screw, and keeps the screw's setting.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll try the autoparts store first. It didn't occur to me that they would carry those!

LC Engineering sells a new screw with o-ring.

I tried to find one at my local dealer and was told they do not carry such an item by itself. Lame.

Either get the LC Engineering one or try to match o-ring at a parts store.

Update:

$4.95 at LC Engineering.... http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebGe...E-2921AB1CB3EE

for small stuff like that, where you only need one and not a 10 pack, i like to go to ACE Hardware. they have all that kind of stuff and in various sizes too. they suck for everything else, but they're the only place around me who stocks grade 8 metric hardware for whatever reason.

on a side note, my o-ring on the idle screw is not in the best shape, but i put some teflon plumber's tape on there and it did the job - also stopped it from turning on its own.

Does anyone know the actual part number, or description. I'm not interested in pulling out my current one to go looking for a match. Fried o-ring and nearly stripped head leave me not wanting to mess with it until I have a replacement. Thanks.

I was on that site earlier. With shipping it comes to almost $30. I cannot bring myself to spend that much on a screw that should cost a $1 at most(i've got a 3-month old at home and the wife is watching my spending like a hawk.). There has to be another option. I'm stuck with the stupid surging idle when breaks are engaged. The bad o-ring on this screw is practically the last option before I just cut the break wire to the engine. The only reason I want to replace the screw as well is because the head is getting stripped.

I had no luck finding another idle speed screw part number, but another forum said the o-ring can be found at a hardware store, 7/16 X 5/16 X 1/16 # 6 o-ring.

Even though that O-ring isn't submerged in gas I believe you should get an O-ring that can stand up to chemicals and heat otherwise it'll probably shrink up or crack sooner than it should. I couldn't find that at a my local ACE or Costal Supply. An industrial supply store is probably a better choice for that part. McMastecar, Industrial Source, Fastensl etc.
