Here is alittle update. I took the head back and they tell me it's garbage. So I ask how come you didn't tell me this while I was paying out the @$$ to have all this rebuilt??
Shop: guess we missed it.
Me: ok what's wrong?
Shop: the valves won't close because the cam lobes are now to long from the line bore.
Me:WTF!!!!!!!!! if the line bore caused this wouldn't you have noticed the cam was sloppy?
Shop: we didn't check that.
Me: Ok give me my money back.
Shop: we don't refund on work that was installed.
Me: WTF!!! again...
Me: what are my options.
Shop: we can order you a new head or you can bring us one and we will give you a deal on the labor.
Me: HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF #$%#$#@#$q@#$%@#$% A DEAL ON SOMETHING YOU MESSED UP!!!!! Walking out before my Italian temper causes me to throw him out the window.

I am not sure where to go from here, other then get an attorney and sue the shop.

LOL, yep, and when she blows, I'll head back down to the land of earthquakes.....! And as for your dealings with the shop, dude, I feel for you! I'm sorry that I don't have any advice for you, my friend. And being Italian, I totally understand the temper.....and I see that you've got it more under control than I do. Very good thing you didn't trow him thru the window, or worse, grab something and take it out of his kneecaps....!

The guy I was talking to is the owner, I was told about this guy from the 4x4 shop in loveland. Guess here in small town Colorado reputation doesn't mean much. Lesson learned........

a4runnerfreak Not sure what one is worse....fire raining down or the roof falling on one while they sleep... it was hard, If I would have found out about school before going there I would have burned the place down....

I hear ya.knowing myself, I'd brought the place down around his ears....brick by brick, but then I'd still be screwed with a non runnin rig. I would follow what 76anthony said, go to the bureu of automotive repair, see what they say. I would suggest contacting the BBB as well, now that I think about it.....

I will give that a try in the A.M. I got some H/G ordered so I can install some old heads that should work tell the issues get resolved.

First off thanks to all that offered advice on my engine troubles. I have since had a revolation, I was laying in bed thinking about the motor and remembered that it had been rebuilt. the crank and rod bearings were .75 over.....well I checked the bore today and found the bore to be 88.73MM I checked the FSM and the max bore size is 87.72MM so that makes the bore size 1.01MM to large for STD. pistons.

I decided to tear the motor down and found that there was gas in the block that had caught on fire causing some black soot to deposit on the under side of the pistons and the crank. I cleaned everything up and decided to build another motor. I am motivated by pure rage!!!!!! I paid the shop to check the block, if they checked it all why wouldn't they say the bore is out of spec????

I have decided also that there is no machine shop in this area that is worth a dang!!!

I had all the bottom end stuff done at AMS in Fort Collins. I wouldn't suggest you go there....I am not letting people know the location of the head work as it looks as that will be a legal matter....

So I will let you all know if the engine starts after build #2......

there are no issues with stating facts: "I got cylinder head work done 'here' and had problems with 'xyz'." If you don't say to people "Don't go to 'xyz'." They are very hard pressed to push lible or slander suits. Don't get emotional.

Slander is one thing I am worried about. In todays world of sue happy get rich quick BS I am just going to keep my mouth shut. As for AMS I have not talked to them about this issue but intend to in the A.M. I am not worried that they are going to take care of the problem, I just got the (warm fuzzy feelings) when dealing with them.....I am mad but I can understand that they are only human. Then head shop on the other hand, I feel that they were just out for some money and use that fact they are the only shop around to there advantage.
