I said to put the engine back in for the salvage value of the vehicle. A vehicles total value is based off the value of the components of a vehicle. An incomplete vehicle is worth less. Nothing illegal about it. The truck is totaled if a claim is made. No way around it.

It's worth being careful with your wording; people only know what you say, not necessarily what you mean. Your first post almost sounds like you were advising to tell the adjuster something that was not true. Which, if done, could be called "lying."
