Hub Install Problem Help Fast Please!!!

ok so today i decided to install my manual hubs.

I get the wheels off and getting the old lockouts was a pain but i got them off after a few good pounds. Im ready to install the bottom part of the manual hub...but when i try to put the manaul hub on..it doesnt fit,

this is where i ran into a huge problem...i figured it probably just needs torqued down...big mistake and i feel like such a huge idiot now....one of the bolts broke on the hub...i have no idea how this is going to get fixed but that will be for another day...but back to the issue at hand..

The hub is just not sliding onto the bolts? (i dunno what to call the location on the truck) The old auto hub just slides right on perfectly...the new one doesnt fit at all...did i get ripped off on my hubs? or am i doing something wrong?

You did pop off the the little cap and take out the gold center bolt and remove the ADD flange right? The gold bolt goes back on with the new hub but the little cap that covered it with the ADD flange does not. Good luck.... Mine are still sitting on the bench after a 2 battle lost trying to install them.

As Joey said remove the gold bolt and washer.

Did you use this writeup? It's for the Warn hubs, but the process is the same. https://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech.../matt_hubs.htm

There's a chance that the hubs you bought were for a solid axle (different spline count - will NEVER fit as is)

the hubs i got fit fine on the spline...lol rhymes

the gold bolt and washer are out no problem...they just dont fit on enough to bolt on...i need assistance in this aspect

latest discovery:

Hubs were "rebuilt" with wrong parts in some hubs....errrr maybe that was the problem..and no i did not rebuild them..the guy that sold me them "rebuilt them"

the auto hubs are back on and i need to get that bolt fixed...but for now i have to wait to saturday to tear the hubs down..

a far as fixing this bolt do i just need a whole new wheel hub i guess i would call it?

Anybody want to give me a hand trying to slap these on?

those bolts are notorious for breaking. You should be able to get it out with a screw extractor (drill a small hole in it, then use the special screw extractor bit to unscrew the broken bolt)

I bet the hubs were rebuilt with the wrong housing. Read this: http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/aisin/

If this is the case I could imagine that the inner part of the hub would not be able to clear the spindle nut (the big 54mm one on the spindle/driveshaft). Try to measure your hub body. Mine are 45mm deep with a 10mm bacspacing to the inner hub (the one that slides over the spindle).

I know this should be painfully obvious - but you did notice that there are two locating pins and the hub body must be oriented so those go through the holes provided?

Are you trying to put the bodies on with the hub assembly in it? It's easier to install the empty body first, and that will let you see why they won't slip on properly.

I just did another set of hubs on Monday night. From start to finish including the time to walk back and forth to the shop a couple of times and the extra time to jack up each side and remove the wheels (the center caps remove from the backside) the entire job took 40 minutes. Coulda been quicker if we hadn't been chatting so much...

Yes i have the hub in two apart and that gold bolt is out of it...
When i slide the hub in it goes into the locating pins and all the bolts go on but when i get all the washers and nuts on it doesnt push all the way down like the old auto hub did...

maybe i did get a wrong housing?

It would have taken me 40min but i lost my breaker bar when i was taking the lugs off...lmao

Do you have the hubs in the "LOCK" or "FREE" position when trying to install?
It makes a difference...
