I appreciate it I got it down and the tail light replaced last night without electrocuting and ˟˟˟˟ting myself! now I was able to roll the window up with the switch in the center console after words and still no dice with it going down, possibly a dirty switch?

So I bought this rig about a year ago and the rear window never worked for me and it had the same symptoms as it does now, clicks when I try and push it up and nothing going down. I managed to just keep pressing up and down during summer and it started to work without a problem until one day it decided to never go down again. The key in the tailgate never rolled the window up or down for me and I never heard a click. The rear wiper plastic arm on the inside of the cabin behind the panel with the light on it that actually moves the wiper is completely broken in half so my rear wiper spins like crazy then will grab etc it’s basicslly useless I can snag a picture after work but it’s pooched.
Sounds like you have a poor connection, likely inside tailgate door panel. The rear window engineering was definitely sourced from HELL. I had a '95 4Runner. Replaced motor once. Just seems like the motors were not powerful enough. I had considered making a manual crank as was available on early ford station wagon tailgates, some of the old fords had both electric and manual option.

Yes, poor connection. Corrosion maybe.
An electric window that is slow and adds around 25 pounds to the tailgate on an otherwise utilitarian truck is a STUPID idea.
