Well i am planning to try and convert my headlights to hid in my 91 pickup 4x4

these are the current headlights i have been using all summer

and i am planning on buying this kit off ebay. its pretty cheap for an hid conversion kit but it says it will fit all projector headlights and the feedback from the buyers is pretty good.

so i was wondering if this sounds like a good idea or not, i just need some assurance before i buy one.

 

i wouldn't, those housings cant control the halogen light too good, with hid they will annoy allot of people on the road, IMO

 

yeah, HIDs would probably work better even in a stock headlight than these, as many people report bad beam patterns with those...

 

but i also see where you're coming from, as they have the small glass "projector" in them...

 

do you think they would work though? i might buy one since they are so cheap to try it out and maybe get some new housings if they do work but project to bright.

 

the only reflector housings that will work ok with a kit are the hella and cibie h4 conversion headlights which are about $100, the only real way to do a SAFE conversion is with a projector retro, if you do decide on the kit, get 4300k color temp, that will keep the light color close to OEM HID cars

 

i bought basically the same thing but put it in my polaris rzr and the difference is unreal..

yea i think im gonna but which bulb should i buy h4 9003 or h4 9003 hi/lo im not sure what will work

 

If you are sure that your car can install H4 , I would like you buy H4 hi/low. coz it can be used as both high light and low light. of course , it will be more expensive. HID is not cheap. that web just show the bulb, but it still need ballast( it can make the 12v voltage become 23000v at once).

one more thing, you should note the quality of HID bulb, whether it is good , it will depend on the quality of the ballast.

those aren't projector headlight housings. Those are just regular housings with lenses in them instead of a shield. Save your money and just drive around with your highbeams and you'll get the same effect.

DO IT! I have the same headlights....and wanted to drop a cherap HID kit in it. post pictures when its done

 

For true HID that work well in the stock housings, contact Nate @ www.hid-source.com. I used his true HID kit on my 93 4 Runner. I'll post a night picture later w/ the lights on...
