head gasket replacement

looks good.. I would make sure to wrap a piece of square tube with 100 grit sandpaper and carefully run it over the top of the block to get a good clean bite on there. The square tube keeps a level surface as you sand. Put some paper towels down in the cylinders. ALSO and very IMPORTANT.. get a shop vac and an arrow. Cut the arrow in half so you have a hollow tube. Affix the arrow to the end of your shop vac with tape so it sucks air through that tube. Stick that tube down in each of your cylinder bolt holes to clean them out. You will be glad you did. After all that is done pour some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel and clean the top of the block until you are blue in the face.
May as well convert that thing to Dual Row while you are in there
You'll never have to monkey with that timing chain again.

I like to use Hylomar blue spray on any head gasket work. I supplied a can to my diesel mechanic when he did my VW diesel. One coat on head and bloc, one coat each side gasket, wait 10 mins and bolt it down. Used by VW at factory.

This^^. Don't bother with the dual row timing chain, it's very expensive and you can only get parts from LC engineering. Broken timing chains when the guides are in good shape are few and far between. Here's the link to the dual row kit if you want to read about it. http://www.lceperformance.com/22R-RE...-p/1015012.htm
