ok so i found front an rear diffs with 4.88's an the guy wants 300 shipped. in the pic the rear gears looked awful black. would this be a good deal?

Thats a very good deal for complete third members, go for it. as far as the rear gears being black, i have no idea.

 

That could be burned gear oil. Can you see it in person?

 

i think the guy lives in va so i cant see them in person. but here are the pics!!
oh ya an what kinda questions should i ask besides how many miles are on them? or does that even matter?

just got a email from him. he said he doesnt know the mileage on them.

Looks like they've had a pattern run on them (the red stuff on the ring). If so, see he he can send you some shots of the face of the gear (where the pinion pushes on the ring)
But yeah, 300 for a set is a hell of a deal.
