got new exhaust! question!!!

so today i decided i wanted to get the flowmaster 40 i had around put on the truck. the shop was doing a great job and i had them doing exactly what i wanted (2.25 in, 2.5 out). when it got toward the 2.5 section we decided that there wasn't enough clearance for flex the way i wanted it. so i settled with 2.25...........

long story short, somehow i ended up with 2.25 in and 2.0 out!!!

would it be louder with a bigger pipe at the end???

please let me know this is killing me..............thanx

Bigger pipe = louder, yes.

2" mandrel bent is perfect for this engine in my opinion. 2 1/4" pressure bent seems to get a lot of reasonable opinions from most.

I would take it back and get it done in 2 1/4" the entire way out.

I am in a similar situation. Mine is coming off the new header, it is going out the new header 2.5 then to 2.25 then down to 2 at cat, out 2, then to 2.25. I was always told to keep it consistent all of the way out. Ted at engnbldr said run it 2.25, so thats what I will do.

A larger tail pipe after the muffler doesn't make it louder, it makes it deeper and gives the exhaust a directional flow.

I had my shop do 2.25 to the muffler, and then 2.5 out the back to give it a deeper sound so it wouldn't sound so ricey. I'm pretty happy with it.

Yes. Please try to avoid the rice sound. Yota's are not meant to be like that.

i have 2.25 cat back and it rocks, a little ricey till the muffler broke in, but i plan on doing a header/hi flow cat here in the future. Plus i have a 22re.

That doesn't sound right, I've seen people do that in Guatemala out of necesity, as it's hard to find a bender for larger pipes, but I would think that the 2" end would take any benifits away from the 2.25" cat-muffler and might even be worse than the original (all 2.25", right?). What kind of shop did you take it to?
