As far as I know it is street legal. It has a salvaged title now, but it should be fine for the road. All my lights work and I have all of my mirrors so I think I'm good to go. Other than the body damage nothing else was affected really.

More pics, it was actually nice out today.
In this pic you can see some weird coloration going on from the way the light is hitting it or from the heater blowing on it. From the inside there is no weird color at all so it must just be on the outside.

Here is a pic from the inside showing what the rivets look like on the inside. I still haven't put the plastic trim back up so I thought I would snap a shot before its all covered up.

Glad to see this thing back on its feet. It is always nice when you see something come back to life...and that new windshield is awesome! I like it so much I might do it to my perfectly fine truck...lmao

those colors on the plastic are normal. it's polarization conflicts, causing the 2 lenses (camera and windshield) to act as a prism. the more tiny lines you see, the more stress. the broader and smoother the pattern, the less stress.
anyway, looks good
anyway, looks good

Now it's time for an attempt at a rattle can paint job and maybe after winter is over I can take a stab at a SAS.

I work with auto-glass for years. Plexi-glass is not DOT approved, No worries if off road use. Auto-glass must have AS1 certification and a manufacture's DOT#. You might be able to get by with it if you hide the rivets with trim. good Luck.

It only flexes if I push on it pretty hard, 3/16" is pretty thick and having a concave gives it extra strength. It is just like having a glass Windsheild in, no weird noises at speed or anything.

Thanks for the info.

So looking around the web for "oregon windshield laws" all I could find is a sections stating,
"The Department of Transportation shall establish standards for safety glazing material used in vehicle windows and windshields including standards for any glazing material so constructed, treated or combined with other materials as to reduce substantially, in comparison to ordinary sheet or plate glass, the likelihood of injury to persons by broken or cracked glass or by objects from external sources."
I know what assuming does, but I believe I should be fine since this polycarbonate should definitely protect me against outside objects and wont shatter in a way that could cut someone. I have heard that this stuff is very strong so I don't think it will shatter if a rock of pretty good size were to hit it while I was driving. I really don't think a cop around here would pull me over for my windshield, even if it were illegal. There are plenty of other things that I have seen on the road that are far more dangerous.
I'm ready to hit the mountain this weekend and see how this stuff works. I'm heading out to my dads place for my vacation all next week, so I'll be heading out to wheel a little bit around his place. The mountain should be pretty snowy and where my dad lives might be so I'll get a good idea of how this stuff is going to hold up.

Laws vary from state to state. IMO if a motorcycle can have a lexan windshield or no windshield, why cant I? NC law just says that IF you have a windshield, you must have windshield wipers. I havent had any issues getting my rig inspected with the lexan windshield. The lexan stands a better chance of not cracking if a rock hits it. The rain sounds different when it hits the lexan though!

Yeah looking around the oregon DMV site it seemed like they are more concerned about wipers being on the vehicle. Seems weird, there was a whole section on wipers and what vehicles don't need them, but the section I posted was all there was for windsheilds. Either way legal or not, I feel safe with it and I'm not putting anyone else in danger by having it.
