Fuel Pump Compatibility

'89 4Runner into a '90 Truck..

Just spent 2 hrs trying to get the tank off the 4Runner when I find the access panel to the pump on top.. YES I did look first.....just in the wrong spot..

Anyway, pumps compatible? If so I now own a '90 ext cab 4x4 w/3" lift + 31" tires ..?

I see that you are swaping in a 5m-ge. Use the 5m-ge pump and filter screen, it's a little bit bigger around but it fits the pump bracket in the 4 Runner tank perfectly!
That's what I did, it was the pump off of an 88 Cressida, that my 5m came out of!

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
RE's are RE's...

But Turbo's are V6's...

I'd pony up for an OEM if I had the money... But suspect Bosch is OEM. IIRC, the EFI system is Bosch.

Bosch is NOT oem, Denso is oem on our truck, and our EFI system is not bosch either. They are not the same in any way.

Does the 5m-ge fuel pump put out more presure than a 22RE fuel pump ?.

I never measured the pressure on a 22re pump versus a 5m pump. Listed fuel pressure on a 22-re is 33-38 psi, on a 5m it is 36-38 psi. Pressure is really not revelant. 22re's have a pressure regulator on the end of the fuel rail and a return line back to the tank. The regulator will control the pressure in the system, however if you are talking about volume then due to the larger size the 5m pump would provide more fuel at the same pressure. the 5m pump is after all built to run a 6 cylinder engine while the stock 22 re pump is only for a 4. So at the same pressure the 5m pump must supply fuel to two more injectors, thus more volume. if you are doing an engine conversion then I'd match the pump with the engine.
