does anyone know somewhere besides the dealer where i can get the whole pickup line assembly, mine is completely rotted out and i hate going to the dealers

you can probably buy 25' of line, a flare tool and a bending tool for half the price of a pre-bent line. I just did this and it does require a lot of patience but is rewarding. The flare tool and bending tool can also be used on other sized line like for brakes and if you haven't replaced those yet and your fuel line is rotten then i bet you will need to soon.

Also i ended up having to replace the "fuel pump bracket" because the piece of line that is part of it and goes into the tank was also rotten. i bought mine from fredhaastoyotaparts.com. it came in today and i will be putting it on tonight. I also replaced the fuel filter while i was at it.

If you have any problems dropping your tank or anything feel free to ask. i actually found it wasn't as difficult as people on here make it out to be.




*After reading back through i realize you only need the part i ordered, I paid $145 for it and it was by far the cheapest i could find. i wouldn't waste my time putting a used one in. it is too easy to crack old lines when trying to break fittings loose.*

I still recommend you do new lines up to the flex line in the engine bay to save yourself future headaches.

 

i was assuiming he was talking about the fuel pump assembly lines? im in the same boat and cannot find those for the life of me...

dropping the tank is super easy, especially when there is a drain plug on the thing.

get the part number from diytoyota.com or from your dealer (use your vin to make sure it is the right one) and search for it on there. If you just search the categories on the website you won't find it by itself.

^yes i know, thats why i edited and put the part number below. just copy and paste that part number into the search box that you get from the link. the cost is $131 and i paid $14 to have mine shipped to northern maine.

well i'm kinda thinking of taking the whole top piece out, cutting all the lines off the top, and cutting some away from the bottom, drill the hole out in the top, run brake line inside the tank and connect all the previous tube and new tubes with rubber fuel line, and taking them back out the top and bending them all the right way, then epoxying them into place

 

I didn't take any pictures and the part is already installed in my tank. it is the piece that has 2 steel lines (one feel line from the pump and one return line) going through a round metal plate that has a bracket attached to it for the fuel pump. the pigtail for the fuel pump is also a part of it.


I tried doing this but welded the the new line into the plate. the line was too thin to tig weld and i ended up burning it to thin and it broke when i tried to tighten my fittings. Epoxy may work better (obviously make sure it is something that can handle gasoline) but good luck not breaking the seal when you tighten the fittings. Also getting the bends and length of that piece perfect so you can connect it to your hard line through that little hole under the seat is not easy. In retrospect i wish i had spent the $150 on the part before i spent 6 hours trying to mickey mouse a new one I bet the return line in that part is just as rusted as your feed line from the pump so you might want to replace that while you are at it. Good luck!

 

i think i'm just going to go to the dealer and buy a new one, i'm a little weary of buying one on the net without a diagram to make sure its the right part.

 

If you have money to burn go for it. i didn't so i talked to my local dealer to make sure i had the right part number and then i ordered it. fredhaastoyota is a toyota dealer in Houston. I also talked to them on the phone and they were very helpful. The part i got is a genuine Made in Japan Toyota part, exactly what your local dealer will charge you $300+ for. i don't know why these guys can sell for cheaper but i am very glad they did. Wearyness is probably how people who overcharge for parts stay in business.
