First gen hard top

Has any one of you chopped the hard top to make it look like a soft top. I found one at the scrap yard CHEAP!!!!. I have been wanting to do this for a while but I did not want to cut my origional top.

Can you just cut it along the side just above the window and just have a top (like a soft top) and it be sturdy enough or should I cut down beside the front window and have one post that bolts in as well?

Now if I could find a second for my other runner. Any suggestion will be apreciated before I go to chopping. I will post pics when I am done.

scuba's right it has been done...

here is my take:
1) buy the top
2) take out the 4 windows.
3) see how rigid the top feels with out the glass.
4) leave the frame work at the front and rear (sides) for strength.
5) trim the middle support carefully to make sure you still have enough material for support.

or just buy a 4runner bikini tops that stretchs over the rollbar...

I was looking for pics as well. I was gonna cut along the top of the front windows and down the sides of the front wondows, the rest would be gone. I have considered wabfabs top but I can get this one for 10 bucks at the scrap yard. Can't beat that. I'll make it work. I have seen it done, just can't remember where...

Ahhh number one is the one I was thinking of, with out the rear section and the hideous soft top. But I do plan on bringing the top part to the roll bar. I was just wondering did I need the window frame or the section on the side past the front window. Just the top part...

I made one like the one on pirate. I found that a skill saw (circular) is the easiest way to get straight cuts.
