4runner half top

A local guy has an 88 4runner top for sale for 100$ and I was thinking that I could make a half top out of it instead of cutting up my factory top. I'm guessing that the tops are fiberglass and I'll have to worry about all the associated hazards with cutting that stuff but I think it'd be a neat little mod.

Anyone done this?

I think it would be kind of cool to chop it horizontally halfway up...IDK. Make it like a safari truck. And then cut the center out and put Lexan in.

I had to wait until I got home to see the picture but that is exactly what I plan on doing. The top in mine is in great shape and all the headliner and other parts are in there and unbroken so I don't want to mess that up.

Thanks for the pic. Now I know what it'll look like when it's done.

I had considered doing that and using a piece of pretinted plexiglass so that there is still some protection from the sun. I'll do a write up if I can afford the plexi.

I really like how just the front half of the top looks without the fabric. I may do this. . .

Here's mine. I left part of the top to go back to the rol bar so the rol bar wasn't sticking out.

WOW !!! I am actually thinking in this Mod, since I Saw a top for $70 bucks, I was wondering if someone have done it before. I´ll post a thread of it and my attempt to have a top so it could be like an extracab pickup, too...
