Thumbs up Finishing up the 3.4 swap

Hey all,
Just tying up the loose end of my 3.4 swap and im come to a few issues, got her fired up and it misses like an old chevy and backfires like one too. I KNOW my valves are fine as the motor has just been fully rebuild bored .040 over with a valve grind and adjustment. I know im probqably answering my own questions but call me crazy I thought I could get away without all that EVAP junk. SO apparently I need an Evaporative purge VSV, Evaporative vapor pressure VSV and a Evaporative vapor pressure sensor. I hear you can utilze your old 3.0l evap can which i hope to do so.

THey main part I need is routing and placement of the stuff using the old 3.0 evap can, I dont even know what they look like or where they are located so any help would be great!

p.s. Having no evap can would make it run like that right?

Cheers

It might if the vac line that goes to the intake was open and sucking air in after the MAF. Make sure there are no air leaks to let extra air in after the MAF. Also make sure your igniter box thingy is grounded, I just sanded the paint off the interfender where it bolts down. Let's see some pics of the engine maybe something else will jump out as out of place or missing.

On that 2nd pic something looks strange, or maybe its just the angle. It looks like you're missing the vent hose that runs from the drivers side valve cover to the intake hose right before the throttle body. I guess you plugged it up? That is an important vac hose for positive crank case ventilation. If its just sucking air in to the throttle body that would case you to run dangeriously lean.

well I cant believe I missed that hose i hope I didnt suck any crap in.
I have it hooked up now though and It still runs the same it seems to be running super rich as black smoke pours out and that usually indicated a vaccum leak but I cant seem to find any

The ECU has probably tried to adjust the air/fuel ratio by adding fuel to the trims. It will take some time to re-adjust back now or you can reset the ecu by pulling the battery cable.

How much did you drive it with the hose off? Might check the spark plugs.

There was another guy last week that drove about 500 miles with that same PCV hose off.
