Just finished my 5spd swap and timing chain replacement yesterday truck cranks but won't start. Bypassed neutral safety switch, put dizzy bolt back exactly where it was before I took it off. Am I missing something? It tries to start, I let off key than dies. Ideas?

 

Timing 180 Degrees off??

All the plug wires on correct and pushed down .

same with the coil wire.

get the ECU ground hooked up and getting a good ground??

Did not disconnect the negative battery cable and caused some fuses to open??

Your not trying to start it with the air
intake hose off??

just ran out of gas ??

It has happened enough to drive you crazy.

A couple of things to think about

 

Definitely sounds like your timing marks may be off a bit, most common problem after a Tbelt job. How was it running before the Tbelt replacement?

 

Dizzy was off a few teeth

 

If truck cranks, then there is no problem with the neutral safety switch.

So did you fix it?

 

Yup runs like a champ, but now I want to buy a new tacoma
