exhaust question.
so the two bolts on the the muffler side of the cat are completely rusted and rounded. i was wondering if i could just take the saws all to em and replace?

i was just worried cause it looks like a bolt goes through into the nut that is welded to the flange on the cat. guess ill jus hack it up. thanks for the help!

I had to heli coil the exhaust manifold/ypipe on my girls 4runner. When I removed the exhaust pipe I broke the bolts. Just went to the local parts store and founds bolts that where the same size.

already tried to get a socket on. even tried to pound it on with a hammer, still didnt work. hell even vise grips didnt work.. time for the saws all!

I think I'd probably use a grinder and a cutoff wheel to get most of it, and then grind the rest off. A sawzall is going to be kind of impractical there due to the cramped working space.

That said, are you just replacing the hardware because it's rusted, or are you taking it apart anyways to replace a gasket or cat converter or muffler, etc...
If you're just replacing them because they're rusted, I wouldn't bother doing it until you have a reason to.

actually the saws all isn't too bad i just had to cut one of those bolts off a couple of days ago but i was only doin it because i like the sound better with no muffler

gonna give the saws all a try. jus cause i havent worked since december 1st and i dont get much for unemployment. plus cut off wheels are pricey. an im replacin them cause id like to get a free flowing cat.
