Engine to Transmission Plate
So my friend and I are on the home stretch of finishing replacing his engine (3.0 V6 on a 1994 4Runner) and we came to yet another block. How does this plate go inbetween the engine and the bell housing on the tranny? Does A go on the passenger side or the driver's side? The A side has three holes and the B side has two. Whichever way we flip it it dosn't seem to want to fit. Does anyone know for sure which way it goes?
Also, we poured the new coolant in the radiator today and we have a standing leak from somewhere. I've looked far and wide and it looks like the leak is coming from tranny/engine mating spot. Does coolant flow from the tranny to the engine? We have yet to install the plate talked about before and also still haven't attached the extra bracing on the bottom of the tranny/engine. Could this cause the coolant leak? This is an Automatic Transmission.
Thanks in advanced!

It should only fit one way. when you have it in and it is wrong one side of the plate will stick out of the bottom. Also I would not leave the tranny hanging from the engine with no brace.
Just my 2 cents

There is a little tab on the bottom middle of the plate, does anyone know if it is supposed to bend towards the front or rear of the car?
It looks like the plate wont fit either way, so I need to figure out how to get it to fit and knowing which way it goes would help.

Funny I just put mine on yesterday, the little tab goes into the bell housing.

On mine (5VZ) there were only 4 bolts but 5 holes, so I stared at it for while and noticed the split washers on the bolts had left marks on the plate around 4 of the holes but the 5th one had no marks so I guess there was never any bolt there. That will also be a clue as to which way it bolts on. Plus the holes will only line up one way.

ya its really not a problem.
your coolant leak is likely from a heater hose or something up top on the back side of the motor and leaking down the back side of the motor and showing up at the bell houseing.
and no there is no coolant or anything that runs between the motor and tranny.

Funny thing the 5VZ doesn't use those braces, I was hoping the ones from my 3VZ would fit and I could use them, but they didn't. I guess Toyota engineers decided they weren't needed or something. I hate the ways Toyota has been cutting corners in the newer trucks.
