Engine electrical nightmare

I recently had a 1986 4x4 truck, 22re that was at another shop. They installed a used engine from a car that I don't know what it was. They cut the wire harness like the salvage yard did on the used engine and sent the original back as a core without keeping the original electrical parts. Using wire diagrams I've been able to sort out the wires. I have spark and engine will run with starting fluid. I can't get injector pulse. I've also noticed that with the key in the run position the distributor is buzzing like a warning buzzer! I've had the ECU tested and it's good. The TPS is original to the doner engine as is the distributor. I can get the injectors to pulse by shorting the pulse wire and if I quickly tap it to ground it will run kinda. I'm thinking maybe the ignitor is bad on the part that sends signal for injection. Could it be the wrong distributor even though it plugs in to the original plug. That's one of the few wires that wasn't cut.

They cut the loom!?
So little surprises me these days, and that one did. Holy crap. They get actual money to work on vehicles?

Couple of questions. first, where are you getting your electrical info/diagrams?
Second, Is the part number on the distributer still legible? it should be something like 19100-xxxxx.
The reason i ask is I'm trying to narrow down what year it might be. The injectors after 1990 worked differently than the earlier ones.

I got diagrams from alldata and a couple other forums and they have all matched. I won't be able to check the distributor number until this evening.

Did the used engine come with the intake manifold/surge tank? I just assumed it did if cutting the loom was even on the table, but I better clarify that

Number on distributor is unreadable but by visually comparison to replacements I see on the web it is correct. Wires for it were some of the few not cut. The ignitor box has a small dent on the top, maybe internally damaged? It seems to me that it may not be sending signal to ECU for injection but does produce spark. Injectors I'm not sure of. They have the proper style plug shape for that year but is there different injectors with that style plug that won't work with that year ECU? If so how do I identify?

The connectors would be different between the two injectors.

Heres some info out of my 1987 Toyota EWD manual that could be helpful. A little more insightful than the FSM.

I made an injector pulse test light from an LED. I have pulse. I checked injector part number and they are 23250-35040. From what I can find they are 1989 to 1995 injectors and supposedly wont operate with the 1987 system, I suspect the pigtails and injectors came from the engine donor car which the owner thinks is a 1990. Am I correct that these injectors will not work?

They are incompatible. That big resistor looking thing on your right inner fender (part#28515-xxxxx) is what controls the impulse on earlier injectors. 1989 and newer don’t have that.
