engine cranks, cam does not spin
#22
Turns out the chain IS broken. I did a poor job checking it, I won't get into why.
Cam spins counterclockwise just fine, then clockwise until it stops... probably with a valve resting on a piston. I was wearing nice clothes with nitrile gloves so didn't spin the engine over to see if that made room for it to spin more.
Looks like I have some expenses coming up. :-( Thanks for the guidance, guys, sorry about my poor diagnostic job.

eeeeep, you might have saved yourself with dished pistons. you probably would have heard the collision of valves to piston tho when trying to crank the truck over. IF you didn't wreck valves, its somewhat easy fix, just a pain to stick your fingers in tight spaces.
EDIT:
Im an idiot didn't see there was a second page.
Go with the engnbldr timing set, He actually has a timing kit with cover for cheap and they have great reviews. all my front end stuff is from him and my cam. no complaints, great quality stuff.
