not understanding how the new brakes affected your ebrake cable. was it working before the new brakes? need more info as alot are gonna feel you didn't adjust your new brakes properly.

That threaded end part has 2 elongated nuts they are adjustable to vary the actuation point for the E brake. Riiiiiiiiiiiite I fought with my E brake for a while, then I found some extra cash and got this, sweet. Works good I am happy to have an E brake again.

anyway I am guessing this guy did not adjust his drums correctly and his ebrake is not catching. but until he comes back to see his thread somewhat hijacked, we won't know for sure.

did you adjust the rear brakes at the drums after you put the new shoes on?
the same method you have to use to loosen them can get them tightened back up. That is, removing the little rubber plug in the access hole on the backing plate, and turning the auto adjuster with a flat head screw driver
I've also been told that you can make them automatically adjust just by pumping the brakes, but I've never tried this method; I've just when straight back to the auto adjusters with a screw driver
the parking brake is never going to work until they are adjusted out

i adjusted the brakes and they are fine...e brake works ok but u have to pull it all the way out to engage and hold the vehicle..i believe the slack in the cable is from the new brakes...old ones were pretty bad..i think when u get that much new pad with an old e brake setting theres gonna be some slack in the cable..i found the adjustment bolt but cant figure out how it turns to take up the slack in the cable..fsm says about 17 clicks on e-brake...im at about 25..thanx for the replys....

Should be a threaded rod with a nut on each side of the lever. To take up slack, back off the nut on the cable side and tighten the nut on the other side to pull the rod through the lever. When you get the adjustment right, tighten the other nut up against the lever.
