My 89 truck has a fusible link, from the battery to the fuse box under the hood, I think its a blue thick wire. Anyway it was blown and took 1 day to figure it out I replaced it and all was good. If the wire feels spongy or cooked it might be your problem.

cables are tight, checked all fusible links and fuses. I threw a battery charger on and now I have some juice. what would drain my battery so quickly ??? I have not attempted to start it yet.

How about the rear dome light staying on?
I've also seen the rear window switches stick (the one for the rear hatch window) since they are in the center console and are a catch-all for dirt and spilled coffee.
Once you get a charge back in the battery you can try the ohm meter between the positive cable and terminal method to see which circuit may be draining it (by pulling one fuse at a time)

OP could just pull fuses and check between the non-batt side of the fuse socket and ground for continuity, if the multimeter beeps that's where the drain is.

I'd check the wiring from the fuse box under the hood that is connected to the battery. Maybe the wire is just loose and lost connectivity. When it is not getting sufficient power you will not have any power throughout the truck which sounds like what you were experiencing.
