If I go up a long hill with it a loaded rig, I crank the heat, but I never have boilover or overheating. I used to get hot before I corrected the wiring. I have a mercury villager fan in the garage, but I haven't had the need to install it yet. I will probably do that when I fix my AC in the springtime.

My setup is for a 3.0. You should just install the fan and wiring, and relay(s), and drive. Worst case scenario, you'll notice the temp climbing slightly above normal and have to crank the heater.
so im not the only one who uses my heater to cool the engine?!?!?
i dont have en electric fun but it still get a little hot when i give it hell when im wheling lol

anywaysss, back on topic!

I should have specified to keep a very watchful eye on your temp. Hopefully you have one.

I did an e-fan swap with a Mercury Villager fan. I think those vans had a mid-sized V6 so it is more than up to the task of cooling the 22re even on "low". I put a thermometer in the rad inlet as a test once -- at idle with the engine warmed up the coolant temp would rise to about 200, fan would kick on and drag it back to 190 in about 10 seconds, then it would take 45 seconds to get back up to 200

FWIW, In my previous truck I would do some long hill climbs at in 4low 1st gear, mid range RPM in high heat near 100 degrees and my truck would always overheat, without fail. Mid RPM, high engine load, high heat, low speed so little air flow for the radiator. I swapped in a new all auminum dual core radiator and a 3600 CFM programable electric fan with no shroud and it completely resolved the issue. Note that this was not a cheap fan, cost nearly $200. After the fix ,in the same senario the fan could click on at 100% speed and cool the truck in no time, independant of engine RPM. I think the fan was rated at almost 20amps, so with the increased draw I also upgraded the alternator.

E fan help wire in on from key.

Just did E fan swap on 22R (1986) with A/C with a Ebay fan with a Aluminum Shroud that bolts right on Radiator 4 points seems to be good but just want to wire it correct, only care if turns on when key is on nothing more so on full when running. In AZ so ok to run all time tested on battery not to loud so fine if turn on key and on all time.

What is the best place to tie into a switched power and where power and how or what relay to I guess run main to battery to make this work? Should be simply but I can't find a switched line in engine bay and really don't know how to wire a relay from scratch so help on that would be great also. If can post with pic of here is the spot to tie into or this wire be great wire diagrams can't follow.
Any help thanks. Just a 2 wire fan.

FAN Specification:

Maximum Fan CFM: 1730 cfm

Fan Diameter (in): 14.050"

Thickness (in): 2.500"

Number of Blades: 8 blades

Maximum Fan RPM: 2,250 rpm

Blade Material: Plastic

Amp Draw: 12.70 amps

I know you're not going to want to hear this, but here goes:

I lived in Yuma for almost 30 years. I bought my 87 Hilux pickup in 88, and I bought a 87 4Runner in 95. The only mods I did to the cooling system was a 3 core, all metal radiator for them both. I used the 190° 2 stage thermostat. I never had a bit of trouble with the heat, and you know as well as I that Yuma gets some heat. As long as I kept a functional OEM fan clutch in them, the fan did fine. Matter of fact, the Hilux still has the same radiator I put in it back in 89, and it still works good.

Point being, for what my opinion is worth, go with a good CSF all metal 3 core radiator, and an OEM fan clutch, and you'll be in good shape. Every electric fan installation I've heard of has been reverted to the original fan clutch and fan eventually.
Again, this is just my opinion. I would think you'd want an "always hot" to run the fan off. Let the fan's thermostat operate it as needed. Does the fan's installation instructions specify keyed power, or an always hot off the battery? I would think that the fan's manufacturer would know best how to hook it up.

Not a lot of help, but it's what I experienced with my Toyotas. If you insist on installing the electric fan, on keyed power, I'll see what I can figure out for you to hook up to.
Good luck to you!
Pat☺

Thanks for knowing rain been crazy hope all good there. Lots water going to right lake mead good thing here - but get could be better , but still with question was how to tap in and do relay (no instructions included) - I only need to make fan come on when turn key on and how to do. All asking for will deal with bad if comes (no over heat hope) later but best to tap into. Just asking -Thanks
