When your heavy winching like in a recovery or a self recovery for long periods of time (for me it was about 45min or more) your battery can get low on juice even with the alternator charging it.

Imagine what your battery is like after you jumped it when you found it dead in the morning.

I know its the battery that was low on amperage because I linked the winch up to my primary battery and it started to pull again like a champ.

So you have your duals set up so you can connect your winch to whichever batt you want? Or you just flip a switch that take it from one or another?

Yes i have installed a switch that links the two batteries together bypassing the isolator. I installed it to self jump myself in emergencies but used it in my last vehical recovery effort.

I don't believe people generally fuse their winches. I didn't. Warn doesn't recommend to in their users/installation manual.

Just make sure to protect the cables by routing them in safe locations and covering them up with split loom as required.

I routed it the best I could but if I were to crash or something I dont want any fires or explosions.

Did anyone ever follow through and add a snorkel AND dual batteries. Am considering the best way to do both at the moment.
