Dual Batteries

WEll Trying to knock some things off the list .
Today I started on building my dual battery setup. Started by rearrainging and making room, and welding the battery tray together.Tomorrow I will wire everything up.I will aslo replace the master cylinder and booster and install one from a 1993 4runner which is almost an 1" shorter and wont touch the intake boot.

HAHA !! Never had one , I havent had any problems with cooling yet, but today I was applying some slick 50 professional its a 2 step fuel cleaning service my friend gave me, I had the truck on and the fan grabbed the rag I had sitting on the radiator and scared the hell out of me .

I will look for one here soon.

lol

I was just wandering

if you're not having cooling problems, I wouldn't bother, just keep rags (and you hands) clear of it

i have a dual optima setup and I cant imagine going back to a single battery setup

my primary battery serves my vital functions as usual

my aux battery serves my off road lights, winch, and alarm system

the two batterys are isolated, but I installed a switch linking the two batteries for in cab self jumping , I have had to use it twice so far.

The cool thing is just last week I killed my aux battery heavy winching in a vehical recovery. So I did not kill my primary battery during the recovery. The other cool thing is that you cannot get to my car alarm connection on my aux battery so making my alarm impossible to disconnect without popping the hood. In my rig you can cut my primary battery cables from under neath the rig.

Hey I was looking thru the pictures of your truck , The Hood ,is that the way 86 4runners came or did you do a custom job on the vents , louvers whatever their called.
I will be putting some headers on when I install my rebuilt motor and seems like a good way to cool the engine bay up some.

Im about to get a winch mounted and this a great idea. I dont know much about batterys and battery set ups but shouldnt your alternator keep things rolling? Or is this dual battery setup to put less strain on your alternator?

No I dont really feel any lose or gain of power . It feels like a 3vze with an auto ,sluggish, Just noisier.

My 94 is the same 3vze and auto but has the original intake setup. THat one feels alot more peppy than the 88 with the K&N, but the 94 has 4.88's and the heads were recently gone thru.

Hey Im no pro either when it comes to batteries, I have the xtra battery just because .

When we go camping or fishing ,I want to be able to use xtra accessories without worring about the battery dieing.

Last time we went fishing we had a spot light hooked up to xtra battery I installed in the truck . It was sitting on my tailgate and we used that spot light to light up the bank of the river all night long without any problems.

To be honest I dont know whats going to happen with the alternator maybe this sytem will kill it alot sooner, I really dont know.

Nope, not factory! I installed those vents to see if it would make a difference when I put in my header pipe. I also wanted a different look. There's a recent post (https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-vents-178065/) that had some other ideas as well. Here's the company that I bought mine from: http://www.raceace.com/index.html. There's some others on here that run this brand too(Lotus1 actually has a pic of his truck on that site!). I think they work pretty good!!
