Drivetrain Slipping Under Load
#41
So... did ya ever figure this out? Just wondering if I get to keep that left nut
Also... Did you check the front u-joints on the shaft? didnt ever see it mentioned, and I replace that one twice, for every time I replace the rear, so it would be my first suspect....

Man, you're so attached to that left nut!
I've been meaning to update here. I've still got the slip. I have all sorts of new play and pops and jerks with the rear locker now, so it's harder to feel the slip all the time but I can tell it's still doing it.
I couldn't find anything wrong with the ujoints, but I'm still not going to rule then out.
My clutch master cylinder has been leaking. It's getting rough shifting now, so I know I'm losing hydraulic pressure. I've ordered a new master cylinder. I'm curious to see if switching it out will affect this slipping issue. Seems like it could be a result of the pressure in the clutch's hydraulic system jumping oddly as my failed master cylinder works through its range of motion.
Thanks for checking in! I'll update if I find anything new, or if my ujoints fall out from under the truck any time soon.

J/K... that wouldnt cause slipping... just make it harder to shift....
Let us know....

Well, I've been driving the truck around, and took it on a hard wheeling trip with no issues at all. It still does the "slip" but nothing has broken. I haven't replaced the clutch.
Now I'm thinking it's actually my engine mounts shifting. I replaced the stock (and torn) engine mounts with these Energy Suspension units. I also did it right before I noticed this "slipping" feeling. I thought maybe the solid mounts were exposing a problem that the old soft and torn mounts were hiding. But maybe they're actually the cause.

Now I remember that the tabs for the bolts are slotted. The bolts must be shifting in the slots when the engine is under torque.
So, sorry for all the drama. Hopefully it's just the mounts shifting and will never cause a problem.

Pop the hood, and get a buddy to get in and start letting off te clutch while in gear, while you watch the motor & mounts. You should see any movement...
