Door switch and arm rest swap possible?
I searched, and could not find the answer.
Sooo, Can the front door arm rests, and window/door switches be swapped from a 2nd gen 4-runner into a 1st gen 4-runner?
Both already have power windows and locks.
THANKS!

2nd gen 4Runners were mostly 4 doors.
If you are able to find a 2-door, you could swap them but they would require some serious modification. The switches are not set up the same, so you will at minimum have to figure out wiring.

You could probably get a voltage tester and figure out the wiring, or get the diagram from a service manual. Then swap out the old harness for the new one that connects to the new switches. It sounds simple, but it'll probably end up being a PITA. I hate wiring.

Ahh.
Yeah I like the Second gen arm rests and switches better. I also hate wiring, and didnt take the 4 door thing into consideration. I just picked up a 1st gen today, guess I am still not used to the 2 door. LOL.
The switch in the 1st gen now is toast. So since i have to already replace it, I was looking at just doing the swap.
Anyone already tried this??

This afternoon I took apart the switch and cleaned all the connection points of residue with some sand paper (like the tutorial on here said). Still nothing. I also checked all the fuses and they seem fine.
Do the relays go bad?
Any other suggestions? Thank god the A.C. and heat work LOL.
