It's kind of hard to follow you here, but if I understand correctly I think I'd drill it out and install a timesert into it.

Weld it up and tap a new hole.

Just drill the broken piece out, helicoil or use the insert from Overdrive's post and change the oil before you drive. Really wouldn't worry about a few microscopic flecks that you don't get in the change, the gear teeth wont notice imo.

You drill out the broken piece with a bit just larger than the original hole, tap the new hole, then thread in the insert and then you can screw in the new breather.

The insert will tell you which size bit to use, and depending on brand may even come with the right bit.

well you have threads from the old one in there, and you wanna just weld the new one on? what if the threads loosen and fall into your diff, that would cause some serious issues...as everyone else has said, drill, retap or use the inserts, and then put in the new breather, imo i think its crazy to leave those threads in there

Ok, it's already a PITA to just get to dif breather on the front IFS. How do you drill it out and tap it without pulling the axle????

I bought some black acrylic tubing from Home Depot and hose clamped it to the stock breathers (With the cap, seal and spring removed).

Didn't have to unscrew the dif breathers (tho I did anyways =p)

Incase anyone wants to avoid unscrewing them for fear of breaking them off! =) ..

The front one should have already been routed under the hood-or am I mistaken?
