Dashboard lighting
My '91 Std. cab base model 4x4 pickup needs new lightbulbs for the dashboard, -but I've gotten different information on which ones are the proper replacement. I'm not wanting to remove the instrument cluster just to pull out a bulb & then have to drive 30 miles to buy replacements. Anybody know which bulbs are needed & a good source to order them online? -Thanks.

Welcome to YotaTech.
SuperBrightLeds has a vehicle reference tool. https://www.superbrightleds.com/vehi...=208&year=1991 For the combination meter, they retrieve both a #74 and a #158. Those two bulb sizes aren't close, so you might need to pull your current bulbs and measure them. At least you won't be driving anywhere to get the bulbs.
I haven't ordered from SuperBrightLeds, but others on this site apparently have. They may have comments.
SuperBrightLeds will try to sell you LED bulbs. (duh!) You can still get the incandescent bulbs for about 10% of the cost. Your current bulbs only lasted 30 years, so you probably won't get much better life out of replacement incandescents.

I put LED in my instrument cluster. I really like them, but I was aware that the failure rate, even right out of the package, was kinda high. But the cluster on the 1987 is pretty easy to pull. If the bulb is hard to access than I might go for something more tried and true. My friend's RV uses the old 12v 1156 bulb for much of the interior lighting, the same bulb used as a tail and turn signal bulb in the truck/4Runner. Not a terribly great light source for the RV. So he swapped in a LED equivalent. Made a huge different in illumination, but they lasted a fraction of the time. Definitely not the same longevity you get out of a LED bulb designed for 120v.
