Been having trouble with the truck not wanting to start and/or idle except when hooked to a battery charger. Anyway, I believe I have eliminated the possible fuel pump problems and firing problems. I pulled the codes today and get a 24, 31 and 32 code.Seems that there is a problem with an airflow sensor but not sure where that is or how it is replaced. I tried the FSM and a Haynes manual but could not locate the sensor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You don't mention what engine/year you have, but the VAFM is in the same position on either 3VZE or 22RE. Left hand(driver side) front near the coolant reservoir. Other than making sure the connector is plugged in, you're going to need a manual and meter.
That collection of codes is more likely due to a bad connection to the VAF than a bad unit itself (you have codes for both the air temp sensor and an open/short in the VC circuit). Money-wise, you're not going to want to replace the VAF unless you have no other option. https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/T...225065010.html
Yes sir you are correct, I do not want to spend that money if not necessary. I did see one of your earlier post about not removing those screws. Thank you for your assistance. I guess it is a matter of testing now.
Scope103, Well I took everything apart and cleaned it with the MAF cleaner and tested the resistance and all tested within the specs outlined in the manuals. Put everything back together and cleared the codes. Cranked the motor and it did idle a little better but getting backfiring and hesitation when throttling. Just runs really rough. No codes are showing up at this time but really runs bad and does not want to take full throttle. I am lost of where to go next with this thing.Still searching forums and manuals. Any suggestions are so appreciated.
