Clutch start cancel can't start with clutch

I was driving along today no issues what so ever. My master/slave was replaced two months ago and clutch was fully done 2 years ago. I had turned off my truck to head into a store. And I get back in it to start it.doesnt start at all all the lights come on no clicks but I had clicked clutch start cancel. It fired right up...

Check the safety switch on the clutch pedal.

Red face

I find these things cause more headaches.

If your pedal was not pushed in far enough.

That is the first thing to be removed.

I had the switches go bad both of them

Concur.
In my book, I see no reason why I should start with clutch depressed because I always put shifter in neutral before I start.
Why? Because after I start, I do all my fine adjustments, seatbelt, Rear-view mirror (check to make sure I look good - LOL!), seat position, radio... all that while in neutral. Those few seconds also allows oil to circulate before I rev up my engine.

Right now, my clutch safety cancel works well, If and when it finally dies, I'll bypass the clutch safety switch.

I just did this today, I have an 87 harness in an 85 truck. 85 didnt have the clutch cancel switch. The plug is located right at the firewall, just before it exits out the cab to the inner fender. I dont recall wire colors. Currently I just installed a jumper in the plug, if you want to by pass it.

If you look at the third and fourth picture in the link that scope103 linked, that is the switch that needs adjusted or replaced. Other wise you can jumper the female plug on the harness.

Thanks, Terry.
Wires to connector are black with red stripe and White with back stripe.

B-R goes to pin 1 of starter relay on 1986 to 1988 4Runners. This provides ground to negative side of starter relay coil when clutch is depressed and clutch safety switch closes.

W-B goes to ground.

Used to hear about the clutch pedal bracket breaking all of the time. This is the first time I have heard of it in a while. Some have it welded back up. I have pulled them the pedal assembly out when parting a truck and I don't think it is to bad of a job to do if you can find a good one and if I remember right.
