hey i have a 88 pickup 4x4 3vz-e. i have had the clutch redone by a very reputable shop, but now after about 30min to 1 hour of driving the clutch does not disengage when i come to a stop and try to put it back in gear. i replaced the slave cylinder and master a week befor the clutch got done(6 months ago). i am wondering if i am having this problem because of my master cylinder. the fluid has gone black as if something disintagrated. i was just wondering if i could get a little advice.i have the master cylider out as im writing, should i just flush the hole system or should i buy a new one and then flush the system? and does this sound the a master cylinder problem?

Grab a flash light and look underneath your dash and see how your clutch bracket is holding up. It's a common problem for them to break or crack. I would flush the whole system and check for leaks at the lines.

 

iv already fixed my clutch braket, there are no leaks.

 

I'd take it back to the shop for starters.

so i have replaced the master cylinder and flushed the hydraulic system. road tested it all seems ok. i stoped played around with the gears pushing the clutch in and out. somthing i noticed was it willingly went in to reverse after putting it in to any gear( never did that befor always had to do 1st,2nd,then R).
i will post if problem re-occurs.

 

i have taken it back to the shop several times they are just f***in me aroud. so if problem prisits i will be taking it to toyota to see what they find then i will take the shop to small claims court for new clutch from toyota as well as any extra expences caused by this problem.

Can you trace the clutch lines from the engine cabin back to the slave cylinder on the bellhousing of the transmission. Once doing so, see if you can get someone to sit in the car and pump the clutch. I know you said you don't think there is a leak at the bracket, but I wondering if a leak has occurred at one of the lines going-in-route to the slave cylinder. Good luck

 

hey everyone, well turns out its not my hydraulic system at all. I am starting to think it is the pressure plate that is casue the problem. i am calling the shop AGAIN! today, i will re-post when i know more.

 

Do you think they could have put the clutch in backwards? I remember putting my clutch in last week and noticing the clutch didn't a directional side that stated which part faced the pressure plate and which side faced the flywheel. The only way I saw this was after noticing that on a stock clutch (not the LCE clutch I put in) had these markings.
