Child seats and bench seats

I'm assuming a rear facing child seat will work fine on the passenger side of a regular cab truck. My question is will it fit in the middle if two adults want to ride with the baby? Also would the manual shifter be in the way?
Thanks.

Baby seat in front ok without airbags but if you have a later tacoma with the pax. airbag you need to get it deactivated. as for the middle no fit issue but you might have to do some "reach around" to shift...

Oh! and congratulations by the way...

Nope meaning no fit in the middle, or no issues with manual shifter?

that'd be a pain to shift, and it would probably be pushing into you and the passengers sides, but it is probably doable

Thanks for the help. Most of the time it would just be me and my boy. We've got the 4runner for the whole family. I'm still hoping to find an extended cab since I'm 6'1 and my wife is 5'10.

I'm using a forward facing seat in my 92' pickup with the bench seat. My kid is small and her legs do alright off to one side but it is a PITA to shift. Forward facing can be done but I wouldn't want to do it on a regular basis or on a long trip with lots of shifting. Rear facing, I would think would be near impossible to shift.

Thanks for all the help. It seems that either cab will be a stretch car seat wise with the extended cab having the advantage for older kids that don't require car seats. I'll probably keep my options open and evaluate each truck individually. I really like the looks of the regular cabs but I'm used to a full size chevy extended cab.
