Changin my mind about which tires again...
Now that I put my truck back together, I want some nicer tires. I'm going to be putting them on some 15x8 black steelies. To contradict myself, now I'm thinking of some muds and in a 32x11 or 33x10. What's the pros/cons of either? Including loss of power and will they fit? I really only want to invest in the tires. No other mods right now. Here's a pic w/the current 15x10s on 31x10.50s. I got a smokin deal on some used ATs today. So these wheels/tires will be rotated with the muds/15x8s.

The larger the tires you get, the less torque you will have at the wheels. here is a link that should help.

that tape really brings out the red in your paint. (big grin)
i am looking at the pro comp m\t, i think after 31's you are gonna have to regear. that is my next deal, learning how to do gears.

Haha...yeah, that is an old pic. I will have to take another pic once I wetsand and buff....and no blue tape.
Anyways, yeah, I know I need to regear, or learn to regear. The question is which of those 2 sizes will be less of a burden on the stock gears? 1" shorter/1" wider tire, or 1" taller/thinner tire? My friend says when I go wheeling, 33x10 is too narrow. I want to use this set for wheeling, and some DD. Like I said, the other set (set in the pic) will by my main DD and occasional off road. It's a difficult choice.

Haha... well cuz I don't wana spend more on gears right now, which btw, would cost how much? I know that is the correct way to do it, and I should be driving like stock afterwards...maybe going to 4.88's? So if I go to 32's I wouldn't feel the difference as much, even though they are an inch wider?

For 32" or 33" tires you are going to want 4.88 gears. You might as well do the 33's. You will get the extra 1/2 inch of ground clearance and probably won't get any more rub than with 32's depending on your backspacing.
Having had both with 4.10 gears I can tell you acceleration will suck until you regear and don't forget to do the lockers while you are in there.
Nice paint!

i really liked my goodyear wrangler mtr's...i had bfg's before and the wranglers are in a whole other league. the bfg's wandered on the highway more than the wranglers did and the wranglers were quieter. as far as width goes, it wont make a difference on your gearing but it will effect two things: a) the overall weight of the tire...more weight means it requires more power to turn and b) more rub possible on body panels while articulating and on the front springs while turning sharp. imho, chalk up a little extra dough for a tire that you will be happy with for the next 30,000+ miles. i've cheaped out on tires too many times, its just not worth it.
