Bye Bye 20 year old carpet.

I finally got off my arse and changed out my carpet in the truck. I unfortunately have the pimp red interior option for the Toyota so i am trying to get rid of most of it.

First i got rid of the old carpet, it was nice to see the floors are perfect but still had that layer of extoplasm called carpet glue sticking to everything.

Here are some pics for those in the rust belt...

This is the old carpet

I got a pretty large piece of carpet at work. Not molded or anything, but it was new and the color was fine. Pretty much all i did was put the old carpet on top of the new, traced out the shape and the cutouts and then took a razor and scissor and cut away. It didnt take long. Once in the truck i had to trim here and there but all in all it came out nice. There is on little bulge in th ecarpet but my mud mats will flatten it. And one other mistake was i had extra holes from a msitake i did, but oh well. much better than what i had.

Next step is to get plastic paint and go at the interior panels. Wasnt too hard and it is much better than what i had.

Did they bolt right up?

I can't believe that red interior was ever a desired look in a vehicle. I've seen some that make me cringe thinking about owning a vehicle with that interior. Ugh.....

After i got the seats in the interior wasnt that bad. I still want to try and exterminate it.

The seats did take some work to install. I didnt find out till after i bought the seats that the XB seats were the tallest available So when i first installed them i was sitting way too high. I ended up cutting the original tracks off all the way to the seat and adding some aftermarket sliders and reinstalled them, they fit much better now. Very comfy.

good looking carpet job Dan... I think I've seen carpet installers use an ordinary iron to get rid of bubbles in carpets [they said it "relaxes" the backing material?] maybe you could try that...
