Brush Guard fun

Well, my lovely 1st Gen Runner is getting some work this week. Thanks to work finally giving me a $500 mileage check they owed me and the second job handing me a $300 check on the same day. I just got in some brembo rotors (front rotors have been warped since I got her), pad, shoes, drums (they are grooved badly), plugs and wires. I am planning to drop her off at a shop in the morning to have to brakes redone and hopefully get them bled and refilled since the fluid is murky brown and the brakes are spongy as hell (they do not want to start working till the pedal is 3/4th of the way to the floor). I am also planning to have them check my ac since it does not work at all (push the button and the compressor doesn't even kick in). It hit 103 today In Mississippi and riding around with no AC is pretty damn miserable. Also I am thinking about dropping a little cash into a brush guard for her, but finding a black coated brush guard for an 88 is a p.i.t.a. I have honestly not been able to find one, there is a chrome one on ebay, but all the hardware on my truck is black. Plus the way I look at it is this, I am more than likely eventually going to hit something with the guard, why the hell do I want some shiny chrome to scuff up. Anyone know of a good place to find one? I would like to find one and start getting things set up for the winch that will be coming soon.

dont waste your time with a brushguard, i bought one for my 3rd gen and someone backed into the brushguard in a parking lot, the brushguard did more damage to my own car than the other persons. id like to see them hit my tjm now.

I disagree. When I rolled, my brush guard took most of the impact and saved the front of the body from being damaged. Didn't really matter about that since my roof was caved in....It did save my grill insert hood though.

^ true. and when my friend in his '91 extended cab backed into my '94, it crumpled his rear bumper (aftermarket)- the only bad things that happened to my truck were:

bent the lower valence, and smashed a fog light. other than that, nothing.

i imagine it'd have been worse without it, but i guess i could be wrong?
