Broken Body Mount
I noticed this quite a while ago, decided maybe I better fix it.
It is on the drivers far rear. Only problem is I don't know how to remove it. I assume I'd start by taking the nut off the bottom, but then what? I don't see anything above the bushings but it is dark out.
When I grab it I can wiggle it around a bit and hear the bushings creaking. The damn things are so long I guess I must have banged it on a rock at some point.
Is it just a standard bolt? If so what grade and thread type, etc do I need to look for?
Thank you much!
*Edit: I believe it is just the bolt that broke, its hard to tell from the picture but it leans slightly back toward the rear of the truck, so I asume I can just pull that one out and pop a new bolt through the bushings with no jacking? Just not sure how to access the top of the bolt.

just get inside your rig and pull back the carpet in the general area of the body mount. There should be a plastic plug in the floor that you remove. Go down to your favorite bolt and screw store for a replacement.

Ok, great! It seemed that simple, just never worked on body mounts before, can't hurt to check with the YT crowd.
My only concern now is getting it out. I figure if it is broken somewhere between the bushings I can probably just pull it out from the top and let the bottom drop out.

If it was "broken" it would fall out.
Body mounts go through the body floor and are in recessed holes covered by rubber/plastic tops. Simple hand tools and a jack you can remove them easily.
I would suggest new polyurethane body mount bushings (all that black rubber is long since dead) and a 1" body lift.

Well it's bent, maybe cracked. I realize if it were two separate pieces it'd fall out..
So, I do need a jack to just replace the bolt in the one?
I'll upgrade the bushings at some other time, when I can do them all.
Thanks.

Then remove the bolt and bushing and beat it into submission with a hammer and weld it solid again. It really doesn't look bent or cracked from that photo...or as if anything is wrong with it actually.
It might be "interesting" trying to wedge all that stuff back in there without loosening all the mounting bolts on that side.

Doh! I'm sorry about the confusion. I meant the bolt is cracked. The mount looks fine to me as well.
So I guess what I meant was, I can just slide old bolt out, new one in without jacking anything if I leave the bushings for now?

I think you probably need "Grade 8" for a body mount, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

not sure what the stock bolts are, but generally you're gunna want a higher grade bolt. generally coarse threads will hold better in vibrating applications.

Well thanks for your input guys. Was an extremely easy job.
I pulled the old one out in the store parking lot to make shopping easier. It took some twisting and prying, it was bent but not broke.
Ended up going SAE because all their metric stuff was too short, however I went from a metric 8.8 (SAE 5) to a SAE 8. Maybe on the weekend I will look into doing the rest just for the hell of it. It gives me something to do.

Yeah, that's my main reason for wanting to convert them all to sae, I was hesitant to buy only one. But at least I know everythings in good shape again until I do the rest.
