Bought an '87 4Runner Now with pics!!

Been looking for a 22re 4x4 project for a while.
See them every day on I-10, one pulling another down the road in caravans.
They're heading to Texas, then onto ships headed for Central America, never to see the US again.
Finally found one just down the road.
W56 stuck in 4th gear. Had'nt run in 2 years: $500
Odometer says 273,000.
Got her running on 3 cylinders and home in 4th gear low range.
Drain sour gas from tank, new fuel filter and rebuilt injectors from Ebay, idles, runs well now. Compression 150-160 on all holes. Whoo Hoo!!
Got the shifter popped back into sync, is shifting into all gears at the moment, so far so good.
Everything needs at least a little attention, a rear transfer case output seal, for sure.
Maybe ready for a test run next week

Wow! If that body and interior is clean, you've already made your money back! What a steal!

So if they're being shipped out of the country then these 4 runners are getting even more scarce

Here in Arizona on any given day, you can see caravans of older Toyota trucks, almost all 4x4s', one towing another one, eastbound. Nearly all are 22R-22RE types.
It is not easy to find 22R trucks or parts around here.
I thought early-on that they were going to Mexico, but I have been told that it is very difficult to import used cars there these days.
I guess they are trying to protect their markets.
Aparrently, they go by ship from the Gulf coast down to be sold in Central American countries.
In most 3rd world countries there are 2 marks of manhood and material success. A Toyota 4x4 truck and an AK-47.

Got the rear power window and the passenger side seat slider squared away today. Waiting on delivery of some exhaust components.

Man that sucks! I was thinking about selling my 87 runner to purchase another 80's runner but now I don't know if I should get rid of it or not
