best transfercase?

alright so in true pirate fashion i have done a search for awhile and didnt come up with any difinitive answers.

Looking to find the best transfer case made for the 86 to 95 vintage. Right now im running a 94 v6 340h trans ransfercase combo (which i am pretty much going to dump) and want to use inchworms pre runner adapter mated to the lexus auto and 1uz. anyone have a decent suggestion? 23 spline turbo transfer case?

23 spline turbo if you want to stay Toyota.

I'm with TC though, go Atlas.

gotta stay toyota parts. hence the 1uz and not the 4.3 chevy or something of the like. So far the motor is kinda in the works but nothing concrete. Budget isnt really high for the atlas either.

Budget?

Lexus V8?

Are you sure about that?

Anyway, for v8 power, I'd either use the V8 transfer, and get a center difflock switch, or go 23 spline turbo.

Atlas isn't that bad, and has a lot of advantages.

I would call Inchworm and be sure that adapter will work on the tranny you'er looking at - I have a feeling when he says "all" he means "normally installed in a Toyota compact truck, 4Runner, or Tacoma"... why don't you find the tranny and transfer case that goes behind the 1UZ ...

1uz's never came in any 4wd application. One other member on lextreme has used the pre runner adapter from inch worm in this application to a 23 spline turbo transfer case and as far as the 1uz goes there are bellhousing kits to mate to the 5 speed thru castlemaine rod shop or dellows but only for 5 speed conversions, boy do i wish i waited to find a 5 speed rig.

there is the possibility of the 2uz trans and transfer but parts for that are next to impossible to find up here so far. Anyone else thinking of this swap should check out http://www.uzswap.com Cebby is over there as well as afew other members. (i followed him over there actually lol. some good tech over there and worth the read!
