O2 sensor ?'s

If there are no engine light codes could the sensor be bad? If so what are the symptoms?
what about the EGR valve?

My 22re O2 went bad and no CEL. Symptoms were significant bogging & hesitation from idle to 3,300 RPM, poor idle, poor MPG. Just replaced my O2 with Denso Universal and all symptoms were fixed.
My experience with EGR problems usually resulted in only poor idle.

If you need a new O2 sensor...check sparkplugs.com before you go to the dealer. You can get the exact same part for,in my case, much less than half the money. Just FYI.

Yet another item to add to the list of "things I really wish I had looked up on yotatech before I did."
I paid too much for my 02 sensor.

My dealer quoted be about $250 for mine. I got it at sparkplugs.com for $95 I think. Don't worry though...I had to get plenty of parts through the dealer too.

Bought a Bosch 4-wire O2 sensor for my '91 22re at autozone for 69. Walked in and walked out with it.

@ bRunner-
Symptoms of bad O2 sensor include a dramatic drop in mileage, uneven / rough engine performance at constant throttle position or at idle, significant drop in performance accompanied by blackish smoke from the exhaust pipe.

Just figured out my egr valve was toast. Truck ran good till it warmed up, as in the tstat started opening up. Then it wouldnt idle at all would just die. Ran rich and missed just a bit, gas mileage was shot. The valve itself somehow got bent. Ran great for about 1500 os so miles after a complete enginr rebuild and had never taken it off after that so no idea how it happened.
