So what you're saying is just use cheap oil for the "break in" period of 500 miles.

10w30?

Let me illustrate i guess.
3.50 a qt, versus, 9.80 a qt

Now assume the break in period is 10 hours(note hours not miles), which do you choose. I choose the cheaper stuff and change it sooner and more often, then dump "the good stuff" in at 10hours. For example after 2 hours(100-150miles) 5 hours (~250-300miles), maybe another at 7-8 hours, and then you can consider "the good stuff".

It's important to change the filter(obvious?) and you don't want to skimp on these, even if it's only in there for the first hour or hundred miles, you want one you can trust isn't going to break/tear and recirculate metal or clog such that the pressure release opens.

There are plenty of oil geeks out there I'm just not one of em. I'd run elephant urine if it got the job done and you needed a lab full of white coat people to tell I wasn't running something else.

Almost there. Hopefully Monday she'll be back in!

Now, it's not said in the FSM. What are the torque specs for the Air intake chamber and the Cold Start Injector Union Bolt?

In the mean time I can start ordering misc stuff:

Our bolt pattern is 6x5.5, right? Found the rims, 15x8.

Long day

before

After

Jennifer is alive!!!!! She runs!

Tomorrow begins a new day. I have a lot of inspecting to do.

Right now my buddy is concerned about the oil gauge. It's not moving. He says after a minute or so the oil gauge needle should go up.

Right now the rebuild is only a few minutes old so is there anything we need to check? I did some searching and found Chef's thread about the sending unit. I tightened the ˟˟˟˟ out of that but I will check again. Brand new sender gauge as well as other brand new goodies.

˟˟˟C YEAH!

Oil pressure guage:
Back on page five I can see paint in the bolt holes. But the Sender is already mounted. did you chase that hole or cover it when it was painted, it needs the ground thru the engine. Not going to brave the snow for you to find my spare but i think you can ground the case to check, if not the case then the base for sure.

The machine shop painted it actually. This is exactly what it looked like when I got it back.

I realized they put this plug where the unit goes but I cannot recall the hole being plugged or covered in paint. I doubt it being plugged though.

I once had a dog, and his name was BINGO!

The reason why I was only firing on 3 cylinders (#4). Should of looked at this before we put the motor back in!

Thanks to this thread....

Sir, you are looking at the original harness after 26 years.

Wrapped in there are factory splices going to the injectors. Some splices from the injectors are not too far from the bend. The blues. The Yellows. The whites.

This just so happen to crap out on me one day.

In the future, if you have power problems and gone through all the steps. Grab yourself an ohm meter and test the wires.
