ARB BUMPER Help

1986-95 4runner- part number- 3414070
1984-85 4runner- part number- 3414090

today i went to look at a used bumper, he had mounted on his 86 runner. it still had the ARB sticker on the inside that read. 84-86 4 Runner 3414090
im confused because mine is an 88 and suppose to use the 1st part number above. but than his is an 86 IFS as well and was able to use the second part number.

anyone have this bumper, any year wanna post some pictures of the mounting points so i can compare and see what and why they are different. i know one is SA and one is IFS

i know but this guy has a 86 runner IFS but has a bumper made for 84-85. doesnt look like he made any mods and can see that it would all mount up. but since i never seen another ARB bumper mounted or know its suppose to be mounted . idont wanna get stuck with a bumper that wont work. i plan on adding a winch and worry that there is something a little different that might be a problem

i just find it odd the sticker on the inside says 84-86 4runner

My bet is the same basic bumper but it uses different mounting brackets for the different year models

I've got the 3414070.

I don't have any handy pics of my bumper, but I found a few on here that will help.

http://www.pnw4runners.com/tech/arb_install_info/

I have a few more bolts than that member, but I don't have the offset washer mounted bolts on either, since I couldn't manage to get them to thread on...the bumper itself interferes with the mounting. Plus I'm not using it to winch, and I'm not terribly worried about being pulled off the bumper, since I've got all the bolts from the OEM tow hook, plus all the same bolts that the OEM bumper used.

wow, thank you so much. any idea of how the winch is mounted up? is it suppose to have a plate at the bottom for the winch to sit on? cuz i heard its suppose to be mounted to the face of it but i dont see how since the winch mounts are on the bottom and not the front

I know that I am responding to a pretty old thread here, but Toyotech559, I am interested to know what you found with regard to mounting the ARB bumper with the 1984-1985 SA spec. part number (3414090) onto your 1988 IFS 4Runner. Before I start jacking around with popping the stocker off of our 1995 4runner and attempting to replace it with a SA ARB bumper that is currently on my 1984 longbed 4x4 (and located 100s of miles away), I wanted to hear what you learned from your research and experience. BTW, I have seen pics posted of your 4Runner--it's sweet for sure!. Thanks!

Never met back up with the guy selling the used arb bumper but I would not get the 090 bumper made for the SA trucks. I ended up buying a new one and saving the headache of missing bolts and worrying if it will fit. The used bumper was going at a high price and was only a few hundred more for new. Not to mention the money I saved could go back into it if I did have to modify anything.

I wheel with the owner Matt at RT. most the local 4x4 toyota shops cater to the SA guys. i get most my stuff online or 4wheel parts.

I also wheel and know the guys at California Crawlers. Purchased a few things from them already.

PM if you ever need anything. ill do what i can to get you the best price
