Looks as if some one took a thaw plate from their kitchen and screwed it on their hood. I know thaw plates work, but I cannot see this doing much good if any at all.

I don't see them doing a whole lot, unless you cut a big hole in your hood, and mounted them in there, then they'd probably work great! But I don't think that would qualify as an easy installation.

i used to have an 87 jeep comanche and due to their radiator sizes people were using lebaron hood vents. I only had the truck for 3 months so they never got in there but I'm sure it'd allow the truck to cool a bit if you cut through the hood.

Yeah, pop the hood for a while and let er cool down.....maybe a helper fan might be a better alternative. Just rig up a toggle switch so you don't have to mess with thermostats just turn it on when you need some help cooling down.

If they did what I think they did to that car, they should be slapped..... I think they need to wear the helmet, since I doubt the louvers would do any good on a mid engined car.....what a moron

Personally, i think those look horrible.
You'd get better ventilation grafting on a 97-Newer hood Scoop, or using a hole saw to put on fender vents a-la Buick/Maseratti/Street Style.
That way actual pressure difference draws out the hot air.
*You could even graft in a steel (for bling, go with stainless) NACA vent into the fender, just aft of the wheel arch, clearing the ari filter (L/H side) and the fuse panel (R/H Side). A buddy's gonna do it to solve some added underhood heat from a 3.4 swap. We'll post pics of the finished idea if you want.

I removed my whole hood for a test run and it didn't run any cooler in my case. I had already removed the rubber weather strip at the back edge of the hood though.

It won't help with the coolant temperatures, but it might help with the under-hood temps. I like the idea of providing some additional ventilation under the hood, but those things are fugly.

you wont see it in the gauge but the engine will run colder...because heat wont stay inside the hood....
my friend did this in his sami and he put two fans facing out and it helps a bunch...at least he doesnt burn his hand when he opens the hood...
