I went to adjust the tps and couldn't figure out where to put the feeler gauge. Am I missing something?

 

Maybe but that is the throttle linkage !!

The Throttle Position Sensor has a electrical connector and is going to be on the other side from the linkage

 

Looks likes someone disabled the dashpot but that's not an issue. They commonly get stuck and cause your throttle to hang open slightly. Like I said that's not a problem. Near the bottom of the throttle linkage (6 o'clock position) is a small setscrew with a locknut. Do not adjust the setting of that set screw but that's what actually provides the positive stop for the throttle plate. You put the feeler gauges between the set screw and the throttle pulley.

If you can't find what I'm describing, just look for where the throttle linkage actually makes contact when returning to idle.

 

Maybe the OP did get the Throttle Position Sensor mixed up with the Dash Pot

I get Left and Right mixed up still

 

Looking at the picture again it appears the truck in question is an automatic. See the kickdown cable? Automatic trucks didn't have a dashpot.

 

Never saw a Automatic I have no idea what it might look like

 

It is an automatic sadly. I know where the tps is. I just couldn't figure out where to put the feeler gauge. I t thought the part that was missing was where it went. But now I see that it's just a part missing that's suppose to be missing. Thanks for the help does anyone know what the plastic screw in the spring does on top of the motor?

 

That adjusts how high the high idle is when the A/C compressor is running.
