Question AHHH! How do I get my back seat out!

86 4runner. Not the fold down seats. I’ve looked and pried at it all I can. I'm I just stupid or is it trickier than it seems. I figured if I could pull the head then I could pull the back seat. Guess I was wrong.

There's a little strap near the center of the seat that operates a latch which holds the seat down. With some digging, you should be able to find it without trouble.

The deluxe back seat and sr5 seat don't fold the same. On the sr5, you pull a strap in the center of each side to unlock the base and tilt forward. On the deluxe, there is a handle on the back at the bottom to unlock it from the floor.

But it's a one piece stationary seat. No division. Doesn't fold.

Where exactly is this handle? It looks like there might be some bolts to undo, but it's hard to see under there.

I don't have my FSM with me to show a pick (getting new transmission installed, put the book in the truck) I have a deluxe seat in my storage building, would have to dig it out and take a pick of it. I think the handle you pull to unlock it is at the bottom, on the back side, at the carpet. I haven't looked at it in a long time.

I'm not so sure that post #2 is correct. I don't have the fold down seats. I have the 86.

'86? 4rnr? Not SR5? Bench seat? You should just be able to stick your hand down where the seatbelts come out and lift up on the seat of the bench....no strap. If it hasn't come up in a while, it could just be sticky. Then, there is a handle on the upright back of the seat to turn unlocking two pins on either side, and then fold the back down towards the front. Mine's an '86 and that's how it works.

my 86 was an sr5 w/split seat backs. it had the little strap and two pull buttons on either side to release the seat back.

be careful when you dig around for the strap or whatever, could be some sharp edges.
