Has anyone done this? Is on a 92 extra cab. 5spd 3.0.

That would take lot of parts/time/money. I think This is a good idea.

What engine do you have? I doubt the 22re would have enough power to use cruise often.

I had cruise on my 89 4Runner w/22re and a 5 speed an it was virtually worthless. I think it might be more beneficial if you had an automatic that could downshift when the engine couldn't power it up a hill but I don't know. I live at 8000 feet and regularily drive up some large hills which require downshifting etc. so my problem may just be location. If you plan on driving a lot of flats or live at low elevation, it may work for you.

I don't even bother with cruise...It's nice when you have had a couple beers... but other than that...it just uses more gas. Of course if you live in a flat area...it would work better.

I installed that cruise control in my old subaru with a 5 speed and it worked pretty well for a cruise control on a 5 speed. In some ways its better than my stock 93 toyota cruise because you can tap the accel or decel and it'll adjust it by half mph. Was easy to install and program too. Only got to use it for about a month before the subie got rolled on the freeway.

It didn't adjust the speed as smoothly as I'd have liked, but it still maintained the speed where I set it.

yes it is everything... well 99.9% of everything. on the cruise it has 2 vaccum lines, well the truck that i got it off of was wrecked and broke one of the little nipples that the vaccum hose goes to. that it all that is wrong with it. i could have built a little nipple thing out of some jb weld but i ended up putting my winch controler there instead. i dont drive far enough to need a cruise.

usefull on those long water crossings, lol

I thought about doing the same thing on my 91 22re, but I chose against it; as mentioned before, the 4cly, having little power, requires frequent downshifts; and this is in Fl... where the steepest hills we have off of trails are freeway on-ramps... the 3.0 has a little more power, so it may work out better though.

I put an Audiovox c/c on my VW, was a pretty clean install:

BTW: It works a heck of a lot better than the factory c/c in my 4Runner. It has a adjustment for your vehicle's power/weight ratio. I find the stock c/c in my 4Runner is very sluggish in comparison.

I just removed my CC from my 1991 4runner, 5sp so I could mount a compressor in its place.
I am looking to sell it.....I have pictures if you are interested.....

I'll sell it much cheaper than a generic from JC whitney.
