add a leaf

My 4runner is a 89 and the @$$ is riding low and it looks bad. is there a leaf from a full size truck that will fit and give a 2 inch lift my 4runner, something like a blazer or f150.

i put a procomp AAL in mine, no accurate measurement of how much it lifted at first, but then i put it between the 2nd and 3rd leaf from the top and it was good

I did the Zuk mod. Easy to do, rides real nice.

Measurement from the top of my rim to the rear fender is 12.5" (mind you I have 16" rims)

I used to have maybe an inch from the bumpstops, I would feel every bump right up through my spine.

I stole an AAL off an older truck that had many more miles.
Rides well.

so that means with 15" rims it would be 13.5"... thats the same height that the procomps i put on sat while being under the bottom leaf spring

after putting it up to being under the 2nd spring from the top it sat at 14.5, the front was sitting at 15, so i added a 1" block that came with the new u bolts i bought and now it sits 14.75 front and 15 rear

its comfortably sitting on 33x12.5s and only rubs at full turn

Actually, it's 13". One inch bigger rim is .5" on all sides, not an inch above the axle.

I have not done it yet but I plan to respring mine. There is a place in Seattle I think that will do it but it is pricey. So I am going to do it with a hydrolic jack and a lot of weight.

really dude??? really??? why dont' you just use a ratchet strap. Rearching leaf springs is a lot more than just forcing the leafs back.

heat is involved in the re arching process as well. Just throw a torch in there, too.

I put the same AAL in my 82. Price was right and raised it up just above level. Perfect

I got the idea from a guy in his 50's who has done it WITH the results he wanted. I am a mechanic and I do know what goes into properly rearching leaf springs, but I also know that some makeshift things will also do.
Thanks for the ratchet strap idea I think I will use that. I may also use the heat idea, I have access to a rosebud.

Oh hi Mr. Vital.

I just painted my ForRunner Royal Blue, and it seems to sit a bit lower now...

Do you think if I used your method of re-arching with some ratchet straps from Harbor Freight I could get it back to level?

Thanks in advance!

haha you are correct sir, i was giving the ZUK mod benefit of the doubt, so the procomp AAL did the same as the ZUK mod for 1/2 the price, and in my opinion 13" still gives the appearance of the rear sagging bad

and rearching springs is going to end badly and someone is going to end up in the hospital, do what you want, but post the hospital bill when you're done
